Terms of Use

Who you are dealing with

Talkaside is developed and published by madnessbrains, an independent software studio. Contact details are in the Privacy Policy. Installing or using the software means you accept these terms.

What Talkaside does

Talkaside supports transcription, translation, AI-assisted replies, speech output, screen analysis and optional audio or screen recording. Local history supports imported recordings, re-transcription, summaries and interview review. You choose the enabled features, providers and output routes; the software does not obtain permission from other participants for you.

The demo

The demo runs for five days from activation. It needs no payment card and no account. It activates once per machine — reinstalling or reimaging does not reset it. It is there so you can decide whether the software works for you before paying for anything.

The licence

A paid licence is issued for a fixed term — one week, one month or one year — to one person for one machine, and is tied to that machine. It does not renew by itself and nothing is charged again: when the term ends, the software stops working until a new licence is issued. To buy one, open the Telegram bot, choose a term, pay, and send the Machine ID shown on the activation screen; the key is written for that machine.

The key is created manually with a fixed expiry date. Issued keys cannot be remotely revoked, paused or shortened. Stopping use or uninstalling the app does not change the paid term.

If your hardware fails or you replace the machine, contact us and the licence will be reissued for the new one. Please do not share, resell, sublicense or publish licence files, and do not attempt to defeat the activation or licensing mechanism.

The software is licensed, not sold. All intellectual property in it stays with the developer. You may not decompile, reverse engineer or redistribute it, except where local law grants you a right that cannot be excluded by contract.

Your provider accounts

Online speech, translation, AI, vision and Web search services use the accounts, API keys, sign-in sessions or endpoints you configure. Use only integrations you are authorised to access. These services are not resold by us and their charges are not included in the Talkaside licence. Their terms and privacy policies govern the data they receive; their availability, pricing, retention, rate limits and quality are outside our control.

Online features may send audio, transcript text, prompts, document context, captured images or extracted text, speech-output text and search queries to their respective services. Summaries and interview review may send stored transcript content. Web search can send queries derived from a conversation or question, not only vacancy text. Auto modes and fallback may send the same input to more than one configured provider. Tests, previews and provider catalogue requests may also contact those services.

Local models and saved data

Local speech recognition, Hy-MT2, RapidOCR, Piper and My Voice process their respective inputs on your computer. Optional models and runtimes require downloads, disk space and compatible hardware, and are subject to their own licences. Selecting one local feature does not disable other online features. A custom AI server is only local if it actually runs on your computer.

Saved history, transcripts, recordings, imported files, settings and voice profiles may remain until you delete them. Not all local data is encrypted. Protect your device and manage backups, original files and exports separately. The Windows uninstaller keeps personal data and downloaded models by default. Optional model removal deletes Talkaside-managed STT, translation, OCR and Piper model folders, but not personal data or shared Hugging Face and Ollama caches. Uninstalling does not request deletion from third-party services.

How you may use it

You are responsible for using the software lawfully. In particular:

What the software does not promise

The software is provided as is, to the extent permitted by applicable law. Transcription, translation, OCR, cloned speech, AI replies, summaries, interview review and search results can be wrong, delayed, incomplete or misleading. Never rely on the software alone for medical, legal, financial, safety-critical or other decisions where an error could cause harm. Verify important content and sources. Nothing here excludes mandatory warranties or consumer rights.

We do not warrant that the software will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that it will work with any particular calling application, audio device or provider.

Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, the developer is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including lost profit, lost opportunity, lost data, or the outcome of any interview, negotiation or meeting in which the software was used. Total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you actually paid for the licence. Nothing here limits liability for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.

Ending the licence

Your contractual permission to use the software ends if you materially breach these terms, including by circumventing activation or redistributing the software. This is a condition of permitted use, not a claim that we can remotely disable your key. You may stop using the software and uninstall it at any time; doing so does not pause or shorten the paid term.

Refunds

The five-day demo exists so that you can test the software fully before paying. A licence is refunded in full if the key is not delivered within 48 hours, or if it does not work on your machine and cannot be made to work. Conditions, deadlines and where the money goes are set out in the Refund Policy, which forms part of these terms.

Once a working key is issued, we do not offer change-of-mind or unused-term refunds, except where applicable law requires otherwise. Refunds are processed manually and do not remotely revoke a key. Nothing in these terms removes consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated for future versions. The terms you accepted at purchase continue to apply to the version you licensed.

Privacy

Local storage, online processing, licensing identifiers, support records and deletion are described in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms. The included LICENSE governs the software licence and third-party component rights.
